The Network of Impact Evaluation Researchers in Africa (NIERA) is set to roll out a series of virtual Decision-Focused Evaluation (DFE) courses that, aim at building capacities of media practitioners in Impact Evaluation (IE) across East Africa. The DFE trainings will equip media practitioners, through practical and experiential learning, with knowledge needed to understand DFE’s in their specific operations, to interpret and apply the concepts across different levels and contexts.

At the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe decision focused impact evaluation (DFE) and differentiate it from other evaluation methods.
  2. Recognize various DFE methods and outline their respective applications and limitations.
  3. Interpret DFE results from an informed layperson’s perspective.
  4. Articulate a coherent argument about the role of DFE in decision making.
The workshops will be discussion-based employing a mixture of short lectures, small group work, and individual/group presentation and case studies facilitated through the Zoom platform. By the end of the courses, the various audiences will acquire adequate knowledge and skills to help them understand DFE’s in their specific operations, to interpret and apply the concepts across different levels and contexts.

Please note: Upon registering interest, applicants will receive meeting details and other relevant materials related to the trainings.
