The Network of Impact Evaluation Researchers in Africa (NIERA) is set to roll out a series of virtual Decision-Focused Evaluation (DFE) courses that, aim at building capacities of policy makers in Impact Evaluation (IE) across East Africa. The DFE courses has been tailored for government officials and those in the non-governmental sector interested in the interlink between impact evaluation and policy making.
The course will equip learners with:
- Advanced knowledge on the key concepts underpinning impact evaluation.
- Critical understanding on evaluating public policies, programmes/projects and innovations using impact evaluation techniques.
- Critical skills to facilitate the selection of appropriate evaluation techniques to address prevailing development challenges.
- Ability to interpret and communicate empirical results clearly and accurately to different audience
The workshops will be discussion-based employing a mixture of short lectures, small group work, and individual/group presentation and case studies facilitated through the Zoom platform. By the end of the courses, the various audiences will acquire adequate knowledge and skills to help them understand DFE’s in their specific operations, to interpret and apply the concepts across different levels and contexts.
