As Head of the National Farmers’ Helpline Centre at the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Yahaya stands at the forefront of digital innovation in agricultural extension.
With a background in computer science and a passion for agricultural technology, he has dedicated his career to applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven tools to enhance advisory services for smallholder farmers. Through pioneering initiatives such as AI-powered chatbots for crop production and digital extension systems, Yahaya has worked to bridge the persistent information gap that limits farmer productivity and resilience.
His motivation for joining the NIERA Policy Fellowship stems from a commitment to translating research and innovation into actionable policy. He is particularly interested in generating evidence-based insights on how emerging technologies can advance sustainable agriculture, resilient food systems, and inclusive growth across Nigeria and the wider continent.
